Surf Coaching, Yoga & Adventure

Chinandega, Nicaragua

Additional Activities

Holly is a surfing addict, but even she knows that life and travel are not simply about catching waves. After a couple super long sessions, it’s nice to give the paddling muscles a short break and explore the area. They focus on adventures that both challenge the body and inspire the mind. You’ll go galloping on horseback down the beach, check out a different restaurant with an incredible view, explore a volcano, bathe in the mud, admire a waterfall, learn to make tortillas, and sip on delicious tropical cocktails.

Practice Seva
Practice Seva or ‘Selfless service’ with Waves of Hope, the non-profit organization founded by the owners of the resort, El Coco Loco where you will be staying. Depending on the projects going on during your trip, you may get a chance to assist in building a school, providing clean water or organic veggies, or protecting endangered baby sea turtles.

Other activities offered: horseback riding on the beach, kayaking, volcano hikes and the infamous volcano boarding (if you dare!).

Offered Year Round - starting from $1900 per person

Holly Beck Obermeyer – Owner/Operator/Surf Instructor

Holly grew up the oldest of five girls in Palos Verdes, CA. She always loved the water and wanted to learn to surf around age 12 but her very old-fashioned mother would not allow it, telling her, “surfing is for boys, you’ll never get a boyfriend out there competing with them. You should be sitting on the beach looking cute in a bikini!” By the age of 15 Holly had saved up babysitting money, bought herself a surfboard and a wetsuit and never looked back.
In June of 2001, Holly graduated from UCSD with a degree in Psychology and won the amateur National Surfing Championships. She turned pro and spent the next 10 years traveling all over the world to places like Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Gabon, Sao Tome, the Seychelles, the Andaman Islands, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, England, France, Portugal, Ecuador, the Galapagos, Mexico, and Costa Rica. On a trip to Nicaragua in 2006 she fell in love with the warm water waves, friendly locals, and laid-back lifestyle, bought land, and began to fantasize about moving to Central America full time.

Holly earned an MBA in Marketing while traveling and crafted a business plan to start a women’s surf school in Nicaragua. In 2010, she founded Suave Dulce, later changing the name to Surf With Amigas. She believes that anything is possible if you are willing to work hard and visualize success. As further proof of this philosophy, Holly now lives in Nicaragua full time with her awesome husband Kim, baby girl Luna, and their two dogs and three horses.
